It was picked in September, part of a game the kids were playing with friends.  Somehow I ended up with it (given to me or left behind).  I had it on the dash of the car for a day or two.  Then I pressed it.

Memories of summer.  At the orthodontist yesterday with my daughter, we booked for another appointment in nine months.  That would be July.

It’s not that I’m not a fan of autumn.  And Christmas and the first snowfall and chilly days and comfy nights.  New boots and mitts.  No weeds.

But the thought of July – made me ache for summer again.

When each season passes, it seems like such a long time since it’s been here.

I work at my desk by the front window.  I look over and this Egad! (as my oldest brother would say) bug sits on the screen looking in.

My bug-knowledgeable son tells me it is a katydid.

Fascinating but there’s something about first, its size (big!) and second, its colour (green!!).   I’m glad there is a screen between us.

I take the kids swimming later one afternoon at the same outdoor pool where they have their lessons.  In the morning, there was shade and a place for me to sit.  In the afternoon, I am revealed, sun beating down and I am helpless.  I wonder why I didn’t bring my suit so I could swim too.

The water looks so inviting.  Why am I wearing pants?
