It’s my winter obsession. A sprinkling of eco friendly stuff on the steps and rockway every morning, noon and evening.
I read that sugar-free beet juice – though not perfect – is another alternative. Mixed with salt rock, it stays on the road longer. Plus it’s biodegradable.
The amount of salt we use now will affect our drinking water in the long run.
Still looking for sugar beet product around here.
We had a neighbour once who liked to tell us how their thermostat never went on until the first of November.
I would shamefully nudge ours on the second week of October.
We don’t keep a warm house (18 is as high as it gets) but I love the smell that comes through the vents that first time you turn the furnace on. Old burnt heat smell.
It feels fantastically warm as the hot air rushes through the house. Then two days later I grimace at how cold it has grown.
